Phuket Offshore Paradise
Discover the Island Gems Just a Boat Ride Away
STORY
See & Do

Phuket may be the crown jewel of Thailand’s southern coast, but just beyond its shores lies a constellation of stunning satellite islands—each offering a different shade of paradise. Whether you're after turquoise lagoons, untouched coral reefs, or just a quiet stretch of sand to call your own, these offshore escapes are the perfect complement to the vibrant energy of Phuket.
From luxurious island hideaways and private beaches to dramatic limestone cliffs and world-class diving spots, the surrounding islands of Phuket invite you to explore a more tranquil side of the Andaman Sea. Best of all, most of them are just a short boat ride away, making them ideal for day trips, yacht charters, or even overnight stays.
Whether you’re sailing out of Chalong Bay or setting off on a speedboat from Phuket’s marinas, the adventure begins as soon as you leave the harbor. Let’s discover the islands that await just offshore—and why each one deserves a spot on your travel list.

Coral Island (Ko Hey)
Just a stone’s throw from Phuket, Coral Island is a favorite among yacht-goers and day-trippers. Located southeast of the mainland, it’s often reached by private charter or group tours from Chalong Pier. The island is known for its calm waters, white-sand beaches, and colorful coral reefs perfect for snorkeling. A small beachside clubhouse offers a cozy spot to relax, enjoy refreshments, or simply soak in the tropical atmosphere.

Racha Yai Island
Famous for having some of the clearest water around Phuket, Racha Yai is a popular destination for beach lovers and snorkelers alike. The island features long, powdery white beaches and several luxury resorts nestled into the hills. While it can get busy during the day with incoming speedboats and tours, the island transforms into a peaceful paradise in the evening for those who choose to stay overnight. Sunset cocktails on the beach? Highly recommended.

Racha Noi Island
The most remote of Phuket’s surrounding islands, Racha Noi is a diver’s dream. Although it has a few small beaches, the real magic lies beneath the surface—offering both shallow coral gardens and deep drop-offs for experienced divers. There are no accommodations on the island, making it a true escape into nature, best explored on a dedicated dive or snorkeling trip.

Maiton Island
A private island paradise, Maiton is exclusive yet welcoming to day visitors arriving via chartered boats and organized tours. Its powdery beaches and turquoise waters feel like a secret slice of the Maldives just minutes from Phuket.

Phang Nga Bay
More than just an island, Phang Nga Bay is a breathtaking seascape of limestone karsts, hidden lagoons, and lush mangrove forests. With over a hundred islets scattered throughout, it’s no wonder this area has become world-famous. Accessible from both Phuket and Phang Nga province, the bay is best explored by longtail boat or kayak, especially for those wanting to weave through its dramatic sea caves and emerald waters.

Phi Phi Islands
Although technically in Krabi province, the Phi Phi Islands are easily reached from Phuket by ferry or speedboat. Phi Phi Don is a lively hub with resorts, beach bars, and a small town vibe, while uninhabited Phi Phi Leh is part of a national park. This is where you’ll find the world-renowned Maya Bay and the jade-green lagoon of Pileh Bay—must-sees for any first-time visitor.

Ko Khai Islands
A trio of tiny islets just northeast of Phuket, the Khai Islands are loved for their crystal-clear waters and soft white sand. Khai Nok and Khai Nai are the most popular, each featuring beach umbrellas, snack stalls, and snorkeling zones just offshore. It’s an easy and family-friendly escape that doesn’t require much time or planning—perfect for a half-day trip.

Ko Yao Noi
Part of Phang Nga province, Ko Yao Noi is a peaceful alternative to Phuket’s fast pace. This large island is home to luxury eco-resorts, quiet beaches, and traditional villages. Its charm lies in its slow rhythm and spectacular views looking back toward the Krabi coastline—where jagged limestone islands rise from the sea like ancient monuments. Ideal for cycling, kayaking, or simply getting away from it all.
