Red at Dawn
Talay Bua Deang, Udon Thani
STORY
See & Do
Located at Nong Han Lake in Udon Thani province, northeastern Thailand, Red Lotus Sea (Talay Bua Daeng) is at its most enchanting during the lotus-blooming season, when countless red lotus flowers spread across the lake and open gently with the first light of day. This is when Nong Han reveals its most iconic view—a vast, glowing wetland painted in shades of pink and crimson beneath the morning sky.
Early morning boat rides offer the best way to experience this landscape. As the boat drifts slowly over calm water, cool air and soft mist surround the lotus fields. Birds rise quietly from the reeds and glide above the surface, highlighting the lake’s importance as a wetland ecosystem and adding life to the tranquil scene.
With its silence, soft light, and endless blossoms, Talay Bua Daeng carries an unmistakable sense of romance. The gentle rhythm of the boat and the openness of the horizon invite visitors to slow down, share the moment, and connect deeply with both nature and one another.
